A childhood of exploration and adventure in the woodlands of southeast New Brunswick

initiated my passion for the outdoors. As my friends interests changed I had to decide whether

to go into nature solo or not at all. Initially the fear of unknown sounds and the anxiety of being lost were challenges I was able to overcome. Gradually nature became my friend and mentor, a sanctuary of beauty and harmony.

The introduction of a point and shoot camera on my hikes resulted in photographs that reflected what I was experiencing. My mother was a water-colour artist and her influence encouraged me to approach photography as an art form.

I live with my wife Marilyn in the seaside village of Pugwash in northern Nova Scotia.

We operate "Horton Gallery" in our century old Victorian home.
